We were very pleased that last week Bruce Pascoe won the NSW Premier’s Literary Award for his new book ‘Dark Emu. Black seeds: agriculture or accident?’.

His non-fiction work challenges a still prevalent assumption, that of Indigenous Australians being just “hunter/gatherers”. There are various historical reasons why these believes are still held today, despite archaeological evidence of the contrary. And, we dare say, despite what Indigenous oral culture tells – if only we listened!
