We were very pleased that last week Bruce Pascoe won the NSW Premier’s Literary Award for his new book ‘Dark Emu. Black seeds: agriculture or accident?’.
His non-fiction work challenges a still prevalent assumption, that of Indigenous Australians being just “hunter/gatherers”. There are various historical reasons why these believes are still held today, despite archaeological evidence of the contrary. And, we dare say, despite what Indigenous oral culture tells – if only we listened!
To listen to his extremely interesting interview with SBS Radio Living Black, make sure you go tohttp://www.sbs.com.au/yourlanguage/aboriginal before Friday 27th May and select “listen to previous broadcast – Friday 20 May”. Enjoy the audio while you can!
