WA’s Burrup rock art guardians split over Woodside cash

The head of the Indigenous body charged with caring for World Heritage-nominated rock art in WA’s Pilbara has denied his organisation is compromised by accepting funds from Woodside, which operates two huge gas plants in the area.

On Thursday, 27 members of Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation, including the acting chair Belinda Churnside, issued an open letter calling for a pause on Woodside’s expansion of the Pluto plant to process gas from the Scarborough offshore field.
